KATHMANDU, Sept 5: At a time when the government is preparing to register a constitution amendment bill in the Parliament to address the demands of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), the dispute between the UDMF and Federal Alliance (FA) has intensified.
The dispute has surfaced after the FA formed an 11-member task-force for the amendment of the constitution. A meeting of the FA held on Sunday formed the task force in the coordination of Sadbhawana Party leader Laxman Lal Karna.

The UDMF leaders have objected to the formation of the task force saying that the FA did not consult them while forming the task force. There are 25 parties including seven parties from the UDMF in the FA which is led by the Federal Socialist Forum, Nepal (FSF, N) Chairman, Upendra Yadav.
The UDMF has flayed the FA saying that the formation of the task force has created suspicion.
“The UDMF had led a six-month-long Madhes movement in which over five dozens of Madhesi people had lost their lives.The FA was not even born during the period. Now it is acting as if the FA is in-charge of the UDMF,” Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato told Republica Online. Mahato argued the UDMF cannot stay under the FA as it was formed by the UDMF.
Four political parties were not present in the meeting called by the FA yesterday. The UDMF leaders seem to be quite skeptic over the working style of the FA.
