According to the department, the price of a 20-liter jar sold in the Kathmandu Valley has been fixed at an MRP of Rs 47 and the price of a liter bottle of water is Rs 16.

The department has stated that complaints are being received regarding water-bottling companies selling and distributing water with the same quality and quantity at different MRPs. The department has alerted the water bottlers that they have an agreement with the hotels and restaurants not to set an MRP higher than these prices.

The department has warned that if the rules of MRP are not followed, action will be taken according to the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.
