Ranjak Kumar Yadav, 14, was injured by a police bullet, according to the local people.

Local traders had brought two sacks each of onions and potatoes from India to sell in the local market at Suwarna Rural Municipality-2. The clash erupted when the police tried to seize those onions and potatoes.

Mahendra Yadav, the chairperson of the rural municipality, has accused the police of using force and arms to settle the dispute. “The boy has sustained severe injury in his head and is in serious condition,” he said. “He has been taken to the Biratnagar-based Vayoda Hospital for further treatment.”

However, Superintendent of Police (SP), Krishna Pangeni said that the police had to fire a few shots in the air to control the locals attacking police personnel with stones. “More than six police personnel were injured in the clash.”

SP Pangeni also claimed that the boy was not injured by bullets fired by the police.
