Police, students clash in Bara; several injured including DSP

BARA, May 22: Some students vandalized Suwarna Municipality’s office in Kawahigoth, Bara today. 



The students of Nepal Rastriya Secondary School in Hardiya, Suwarna Municipality-4, vandalized the municipality’s office.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Hobindra Bogati said that the vandalism was carried out in protest against the transfer of School Principal Ram Ekbal Sah from Hardiya to Nera Secondary School, Dewapur.


He said that the students, who were angry about the transfer, stormed into the municipality’s office and vandalized furniture including tables, chairs, windows etc. 


According to SP Bogati, a dozen security personnel, including DSP Purushottam Prasad Pandey, were injured when the students and vandals attacked the municipality office.


He further said that the security personnel had to fire aerial shots and tear gas canisters in order to get the situation under control. According to SP Bogati, several students who participated in the vandalism were injured.
