KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) urged the government and all the political parties to put on hold the constitution amendment bill in the parliament and to look for a political consensus.

A meeting of the parliamentary party of RPP on Sunday took a decision that the party will not register any further amendment proposal on the bill and would not support the bill itself unless a political consensus is developed.

"If the bill is moved forward as it is, it could not be endorsed and the consequences of the failure could be damaging at political level," stated the press release issued by the party's chief-whip Dilanath Giri.

However, the RPP said that the participation of all political parties, including the Madhes-based parties, should be ensured in the local level election.

The RPP has said that none of the concerned political forces are happy with the constitution amendment bill and the bill should be put on hold to seek a solution through political consensus.
