KATHMANDU, Nov 23: The Election Commission (EC) has appointed Mohan Prasad Pandey as a lawmaker of the House of Representatives. The post had fallen vacant after the sudden death of Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Surya Bahadur KC.

The EC gave certificates of a member of the lower house of the federal parliament to Pandey as per the recommendation made by the NC. Pandey is a permanent resident of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-3 in Syangja district. The NC had kept Pandey’s name in the close list of candidates submitted to the EC in 2017.
Pandey’s name was next after late KC in the list of names of candidates put in the Khas/Aarya cluster of the proportional list. House Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota administer Pandey the oath of office and secrecy in Singha Durbar on Monday afternoon.
