KATHMANDU, Nov 5: The government is going to close the online application system for driver's license from November 17.

Issuing a public notice, the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) said that the online application system for licenses will be closed indefinitely after November 17. According to the notice, this system will be closed until further notice.

The government claimed that the service had to be stopped because the DoTM had to deploy employees for the elections to the House of Representatives and the provincial assemblies to be held on November 20. The DoTM has not mentioned anything as to when the system will open.

The DoTM has been extremely slow in printing and distributing licenses. Those passing the trial examinations are forced to wait as long as three years to get their licenses.
