ILAM, July 7: A person has been killed in a khukuri attack in Sangrumba, Ilam Municipality-12 Wednesday morning. Yam Bahadur Saawa, 45, killed Dhan Bahadur Rai, 58, at around 8:45AM today, according to police.
After seeing Dhan Bahadur carrying a khukuri at local Sumant Saawa’s house, Yam Bahadur asked him for the weapon. Upon refusal, Yam Bahadur snatched the weapon and attacked Rai, according to District Police Chief, Superintendent of Police Mahendra Shrestha. Police stated that Rai was critically injured in the khukuri attack and died on the spot.

SP Shrestha said that the reason behind Dhan Bahadur's murder could not be ascertained as the attacker is said to be mentally unstable. Police said that Yam Bahadur has been arrested from the village and further investigation into the matter is underway.
