Man arrested with 12.211 kg of silver in Morang, another 5.749 kg of silver recovered after interrogation

KATHMANDU, April 2: The police arrested a young man in possession of around 18 kg of illegally imported silver.



In Morang's Belbari Municipality-7, Bahuni, the Armed Police Force arrested an individual found in possession of silver items valued at Rs 8,74,552.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Bijay Khatri from Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-6, was apprehended by the Security Base, Bahuni, with 17.960 kg of silver items.


Khatri was arrested while riding a motorcycle, concealing 12.211 kg of silver jewelry. Upon interrogation, Khatri revealed the whereabouts of an additional 5.749 kg of silver at his residence.


Following Khatri's statement, the police recovered the additional silver and handed both Khatri and the seized silver over to the Biratnagar Customs Office, Morang, for further legal action.
