KATHMANDU, May 4: The hearing on writ petition filed by Additional Inspector General of Police Bishwaraj Pokharel against the appointment of AIG Dhiraj Pratap Singh to the post of Inspector General of Police (IGP) by the government is currently underway at the Supreme Court.

A writ petition filed by AIG Pokharel has demanded to overturn the government's decision to promote Singh to the post of IGP. Pokharel has maintained that the government had undermined seniority and work performance by appointing Singh to the post of IGP.
A cabinet meeting held earlier on April 3 had decided to promote Singh to the post of Inspector General of Police.
