Cultural expert Joshi gets dengue

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Centenarian Satya Mohan Joshi has been infected with dengue.



According to Kist Medical College, Joshi, who came to the hospital's emergency room after feeling weak and had no appetite, was diagnosed with dengue.

According to the hospital, the 102-year-old Joshi also has a urinary infection along with his old chest and heart problems.


The hospital in a statement said he is being treated in the deluxe cabin of the hospital. Despite his deteriorating health condition, there is no need to panic.


Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Jivan Ram Shrestha, reached Joshi's residence at Bakhumbahal of Lalitpur and met with him on Friday. He said that the government would manage necessary health workers for Joshi  to take care of his health. He also wished speedy recovery of the centenary figure Joshi.


Joshi, the first director of the Department of Archaeology and Culture, has been awarded with the Madan Puraskar three times.
