CIAA files charge-sheet against Division Road Office chief

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday filed a case at the Special Court against Suresh Thakur, chief of the Division Road Office, Rupandehi, on the charge of accumulating disproportionate assets.

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday filed a case at the Special Court against Suresh Thakur, chief of the Division Road Office, Rupandehi, on the charge of accumulating disproportionate assets.



The anti-graft body has accused him of accumulating assets amounting to Rs 31.8 million without valid sources of income. The constitutional body accused him of accumulating the assets in the last 16 years when he was in service since 2002.

The CIAA had seized Rs 1.2 million rupees from his house and office in cash and accused him of depositing the rest of the other amount in various banks and financial institutions. He has also purchased shares of various companies.


The anti-graft body also accused him of registering the properties earned through illegal means in the name of his wife Anita Thakur and other relatives including Santosh Thakur, Balaram Upadhyay and Minakshi Sinha. The CIAA has asked the court to forfeit the principal amount and impose an equal amount of fine on the accused.
