KATHMANDU, Jan 10: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against 17 people including the then chief of the Survey Office in Lalitpur, Buddhiman Jaisi, on the charge of transferring the ownership of land on the banks of the Karmanasa River in Lalitpur to a private housing company.
The others accused of involvement in the corruption included Survey Officer Baleshwor Yadav, Surveyor Keshav Thapa Magar and the then chief at Lalitpur Land Revenue Office, Baburam Khanal. The anti-graft body also registered a charge-sheet against Nayab Subba (non-gazetted first class) duo Khyam Narayan Poudel and Dinesh Neupane and Kharidar (non-gazetted second class) Atmaram Luitel.

Similarly, the anti-corruption body filed a corruption case against the owners of Euro Housing Developers Private Limited and Euro Land Developers Private Limited, Gunikaji Manandhar, Yogeshwor Krishna Parajuli, Krishna Raj Shrestha, Tanka Bahadur Shrestha, Gopal Das Manandhar, Babin Manandhar and Ujjawal Manandhar and owners of Kathmandu Hospital Private Limited, Dr Ishwor Lal Acharya, Dr Durgaman Joshi and Durgesh Nandini Bhattachan.
The housing company had sold the land to different people. Before that, they had transferred the land ownership after tampering the survey map published in 2022 BS as they and public servants worked hand in gloves.
According to the spokesperson for CIAA, Taranath Adhikari, the government land with an area of over eight ropanis in wards 23 and 28 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City was illegally transferred to the private company.
The CIAA has also sought Rs 20.233 million in fine from them.
