11-month-old baby drowns in bucket in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR, Aug 6: An 11-month-old baby has drowned in a bucket in Chittapol-10 of the Suryabinayak Municipality in Bhaktapur.

BHAKTAPUR, Aug 6: An 11-month-old baby has drowned in a bucket in Chittapol-10 of the Suryabinayak Municipality in Bhaktapur. 



The deceased, Nelista Basnet, was the daughter of Geeta Basnet, who originally hails from Bhaisepati Municipality-2 in Sindhupalchok but is currently residing in the same area.

According to the District Police Office, Bhaktapur, the baby girl drowned in a 20-liter plastic bucket filled with water while she was playing. After she drowned and lost consciousness she was immediately taken to Khwopa Hospital in Chyamasingh, Bhaktapur for treatment, but the doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. 


The information officer, Rajan Karki, stated that the body had been taken to Kathmandu Medical College, Duwakot, Bhaktapur for a post-mortem. 


A police team, including an investigating officer from the Jagati Police Circle in Bhaktapur, has been deployed and investigations have been carried out. Further investigations into the incident are underway.
