Tourists visiting Bhaktapur increase by 78,000 in FY 2023/24

BHAKTAPUR, July 30: Bhaktapur has seen a rise in tourist arrivals, with an increase of about 78,000 visitors in the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to the previous fiscal year.

BHAKTAPUR, July 30: Bhaktapur has seen a rise in tourist arrivals, with an increase of about 78,000 visitors in the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to the previous fiscal year.



According to the Tourist Information Center of Bhaktapur Municipality, 245,593 tourists visited Bhaktapur in the fiscal year 2023/24, up from 167,652 in 2022/23. This represents a 46.49 percent increase in tourist numbers.

In the fiscal year 2023/24, the city welcomed 116,401 non-SAARC tourists and 129,192 tourists from SAARC countries and China.


Bhaktapur Municipality collected over Rs 274.45 million from tourism fees, with Rs 209.99 million coming from non-SAARC tourists and Rs 6.46 million from SAARC countries and China. In the previous fiscal year, tourism fees totaled over Rs 184 million.


Among the visitors last fiscal year, 87,798 were from India and 40,401 from China.
