The program was conducted as per the Hindu rituals for all the children, coinciding with the 16-day long death ritual that is performed according to Hindu tradition this month. Speaking at the program, WPPF President Hari Kumar Dhakal said the program marks the beginning of many more such programs in memory of the deceased children.

“We hope that this type of programs will help provide peace to the departed souls,” he said. General Secretary of WPPF, Taranath Sapkota, said the Children Memorial Park was constructed in memory of the innocent children, who lost their lives in course of the Maoist insurgency. He also pointed out the need for all concerned authorities to work collectively to transform the Children's Memorial Park into a center of attraction for people working for the cause of children.
