The NA chairman also said that it is a good opportunity for the government to make changes in the proposed media law since it is under the consideration of the Parliament.

The proposed law, which was registered by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology at the Parliament Secretariat recently, has faced stern criticism from media fraternity and the main opposition Nepali Congress.

Representatives of the Nepal Press Union also submitted a Memorandum of Understanding to the NA chairman demanding changes in the proposed media law. The NPU has accused the government of trying to curtail press freedom by drafting the drafting draconian laws.
