KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government will provide incentives for the operation of electric stoves and electric buses.

Speaking at the 19th and 20th General Assemblies of Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) on Tuesday, Prime Minister Deuba said that electric stoves and electric buses should be operated. He said that the government is ready to encourage entrepreneurs for the operation of electric buses and usage of electric stoves.

Prime Minister Deuba stressed on the need to make the country a model by using electronic devices across the country. Stating that some power producers in Nepal do not have licenses, he urged them to acquire licenses.

“Why should we use gas stoves? We have enough electricity to drive any electric vehicle (EV) with a battery. We can drive buses with it. Our stove can also be an electric stove. I think we need to divert our attention toward electric appliances,” he said.
