Vote counting remains stalled

The vote counting in the municipality was halted after ballot papers marked on madal, tree and cow electoral symbols were found in the pack of ballots marked on the UML’s electoral symbol sun.

After the dispute arose, the election commission had suggested recounting votes of ward No. 3 and 4.

CPN-UML had been demanding that the votes of all the 4 wards be recounted even though the NC, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), CPN (Maoist

Center), RPP and Naya Shakti Party Nepal agreed to EC’s decision.

The vote counting was underway at the Electricity Authority based in Kharipati of Changunarayan Municipality.
