Vice presidential election: Vice President hopeful Jha pledges to establish women's rights

KATHMANDU, March 17: Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party who is one of the candidates in the ongoing vice presidential election today, vowed to establish women rights if she is elected to the post.

KATHMANDU, March 17: Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party who is one of the candidates in the ongoing vice presidential election today, vowed to establish women rights if she is elected to the post.



Interacting with journalists after casting her ballot at the Federal Parliament Building at New Baneshwor in Kathmandu today, Jha urged the parliamentarians taking part in the ongoing election to give their votes to women. 


The voting under the election kicked off at 10:00AM today and it will conclude at 3:00PM today.

As many as 150 of the 332 members of the federal parliament had voted as of 11:00AM while 286 of the 550 votes were cast from the provincial assembly members. 


There are two polling centers in the Lhotse Hall of the federal parliament building, one each for federal parliament members and provincial assembly members. 


Janamat Party's Mamata Jha, Janata Samajbadi Party's Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and CPN-UML's Asta Laxmi Shakya (Bohara) are in the fray for the second highest post in the country.
