KATHMANDU, Oct 16: The traffic police took action against 1,407 drivers on Saturday for flouting various traffic rules. Among those facing action, 446 faced the music for keeping unclear number plates and four for drink-and-driving.

Similarly, 155 drivers faced action for over speeding, five for unnecessarily blowing horns, two motorcyclists for unusually high noise and 788 drivers for miscellaneous traffic offenses. The traffic police took action in the course of a special traffic checking campaign conducted in the Kathmandu Valley on Saturday, said Superintendent of Police Awadesh Bista Chhetri, joint spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
