Tourism Ministry honors climber Sanu Sherpa

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has honored Guinness World Record holder mountaineer Sanu Sherpa.

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has honored Guinness World Record holder mountaineer Sanu Sherpa. 



Tourism Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha invited climber Sherpa at the ministry on Wednesday and honored him.

Minister Shrestha also handed over a cheque of Rs 70,730 to Sherpa, which is Minister Shrestha's one month salary.


On the occasion, Tourism Minister Shrestha said mountain climbing is challenging and added that he provided his one month's salary to Sherpa in his honor.


Sherpa has set world records by climbing 14 mountains above 8,000 meters twice. He has also climbed Mt Everest for the seventh times so far.
