The EC decided to disqualify Dr Toshima Karki from the election arguing that she held a public post as she was elected a member of Nepal Medical Council (NMC).

However, Karki has been of the opinion that there is no fixed salary in the Council and that she only gets an allowance when she attends a meeting of the Council. According to her, since she is an elected member, the position of a member of the Nepal Medical Council is not a position of profit.
