BANKE, Dec 29: Counting of tiger population has begun in Banke National Park from today.
The park office chief, Rabilal Pantha, shared that the national park is the youngest one in the country and is considered as the appropriate habitat for the Bengal tigers, adding that a census was being carried out in order to bring out a clear picture of the tigers' situation expecting the number has increased this year.
Tiger census begins today
The counting was begun with the support of ZSI Nepal, Banke National Park and the National Trust for Nature Conservation Bardiya through camera trapping model.
The census held in 2013 had recorded three tigers, four in 2014, six in 2015 and nine in 2015 in the national park.
However, only seven were officially announced in 2015 as two identical tigers were found in Bardiya National Park which were thought to be from the Banke park. RSS
