ITAHARI, June 4: Three persons were arrested on Sunday on charges of beating a woman in accusation of practicing witchcraft while treating another woman.

Ramesh Kumar Mehat, Ranjit Mehat and Amarlal Mehat of Gadhi rural municipality – 4 were arrested for beating a woman who was holding ritualistic performances at a local temple in order to treat a woman. The three brothers were acting on an instruction from their father Suwalal Mehat to beat the woman.
The police have launched necessary legal action against the youths who were trying to force the accused witch to leave the village. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the local health unit, police said. RSS
