Thapaliya recommended for EC Chief

KATHMANDU, March 25: The Constitutional Council has recommended the name of Dinesh Thapaliya for the post of Chief Commissioner at the Election Commission.

KATHMANDU, March 25: The Constitutional Council has recommended the name of Dinesh Thapaliya for the post of Chief Commissioner at the Election Commission. Thapaliya is the secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. The Election Commission (EC) has been left without the head as Ayodhee Prasad Yadav retired on Sunday, completing his six-year term in office.



Commissioner of the EC Narendra Dahal was also in the race for the post.

Meanwhile, the council has recommended the name of Bishnu Maya Oli for the member of the National Inclusive Commission.


The meeting of the council held on Monday took the decision with the majority. However, main opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba was absent during the meeting,
