KATHMANDU, Oct 28: Temporary staffers and employees those working on contract and daily-wage basis in various government bodies have launched agitation to pressurize the government to fulfill their demands, on Sunday.

The government employees staged a sit-in in front of the Ministry of General Administration (MoGA) in Singdurbar on Sunday after Minister for General Administration Lalbabu Pandit turned down their request to meet them.

The agitating employees have demanded that they should be given permanent appointment automatically since they have already served 30 years in the government services.

Kumar Raut, a leader of the agitating employee’s association, told reporters that they would be forced to launch the nation-wide protest if their demands are not met immediately.

“We have already served 30 years in the government services and hope the government will provide justice to us,” Raut said a group of reporters at Singhdurbar.

The employees’ protest comes in the wake of MOGA’s plan to give voluntary retirement to those temporary staffers and employees working on contract and daily-wage basis in various government bodies.
