On January 1, the DoP issued a notice saying that there was a problem with the server and that the service was closed indefinitely. The data of the service-seekers entered into the system for passport issuance hit a snag while verifying it.

After the DoP encountered a problem with its server, the technicians from the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers also monitored the department. Similarly, three technicians were mobilized by the Idemia Company to identify the hitch which managed to troubleshoot the technical issue, thereby resuming the passport issuance process.
