Team comprising former PM Dahal, Energy Minister Bhusal reaches Manang

MANANG, August 7: Former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal reached Manang today to observe the damage caused by floods and landslides in the region.

MANANG, August 7: Former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal reached Manang today to observe the damage caused by floods and landslides in the region. 



Floods and landslides triggered by incessant rain on June 15 caused heavy damage to physical infrastructures in the Himalayan district.


According to reports, former PM Dahal and Minister Bhusal arrived in Manang to take stock of the situation following the disasters at various places of the district and to provide necessary support in terms of relief and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructures.

Former ministers Dev Gurung and Tek Bahadur Gurung, Secretary of Ministry of Energy and the Chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) are also accompanying former PM Dahal and Minister Bhusal.


The team is scheduled to observe the areas damaged by the landslides and floods and will inspect the Timang of Ngisyang Rural Municipality, Chame of Chame Rural Municipality and Danakyu, Tilchetaal and other areas of Nasaon Rural Municipality, Chief District Officer Bishnu Lamichhane said.


The team is scheduled to hold discussions with the bodies concerned regarding the repair and maintenance of the physical infrastructures destroyed by the disasters. The team will also carry out observation and inspection of the electricity, irrigation, health and resettlement aspects as well as hold discussions on the issues. 


Manang is in the dark as the power supply has been disrupted following the landslides and floods. The team will discuss issues of micro hydropower, NEA, irrigation and drinking water.
