JUMLA, Jan 6: The students from the mountainous districts of Karnali Province are bound to sit in the exam without completing the annual course of study every year.

Irregular attendance of students and teachers, and a shortage of subject teachers are main reasons behind not completing the books before attending the exam, said Sher Bahadur Rokaya, a 7th grader at Mahadev Basic School in the district.

No computer in school

Although computer education was made compulsory in school, there is no computer in the school. “Only theoretical class is taken, showing pictures,” said teacher Madan Prasad Upadhyay, adding that they had no option but to show pictures and make students able to identify mouse, desktop, monitor, CPU etc.

The students also said it was too difficult for them to face the exams without taking a practical class on a computer.

When inquired about the shortage of teachers and computers, Acting Chairman of School Management Committee, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya, admitted that they had not been able to manage the computers.
