KASKI, Jan 26: Kaski District Police Office has arrested six people on the charge of defrauding Nepalis by luring them with the promise to send them to Canada. Among those arrested are two foreigners and four Nepali nationals.
According to the Kaski District Police Office, the police raided a hotel located in Pokhara Metropolitan City-10, Buddha Chowk, based on the information that various people had been called for an interview with the deceptive promises of taking them to Canada.

According to Kaski Police Spokesperson DSP Shravan Kumar BK, those arrested are Parvati Sunar, 65, a resident of Pokhara Metropolitan City-13 Patanbesi; Rita Sunar, 37, of Mahendra Pul; Seema Sunar, 32, of Phedikhola Rural Municipality-3, Syangja; and Pradeep Upadhyaya, 38-year-old of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, Kalanki. Similarly, 45-year-old Rakesh Jaiswal, a permanent resident of Canada, and 32-year-old Ishmit Kaur, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, India, were arrested.
Parvati Sunar, who was arrested, lured Nepali individuals for interviews by stating that since her daughter is in Canada, they would receive Canadian visas easily.
According to the police sources, the group demanded more than Rs 3 million from those individuals who passed the interview.
Police said, “This widespread scam preyed on the aspirations of unsuspecting Nepalis seeking better prospects abroad.”
