SINDHULI, Oct 4: Keeping in mind the possible misuse of government vehicles during the Dashain festival, District Police Office (DPO), Sindhuli, has banned the use of government-owned vehicles during holidays without its permission.
“Nobody will be allowed to misuse government vehicles. As the Dashain holidays for government officials begin from Friday, we'll make sure that such vehicles aren't misused by government officials to tragvel to their home districts,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Umashankar Panjiyar, chief of the DPO said at a press conference on Monday.
Police to act against unauthorized use of govt vehicles
According to him, they would be checking various sections of the road on the BP Highway to ensure that government officials are not taking government vehicles to travel to their hometowns.
Although the government provides vehicles to government officials for ease of their work, many officials including the ones from the District Development Committee and various municipalities, have been using such vehicles for their personal use, according to officials.
“It is not fair for the government officials to use the vehicles to attend private functions such as weddings, parties, and other activities. Such misuse must be stopped,” said Bikash Acharaya, a local.
Locals have accused the police for letting the government-owned vehicles to operate freely without questioning if they are being misused.
