KATHMANDU, April 4: Shekhar Golchha and Kishor Pradhan will contest for the post of senior vice president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in the upcoming elections. According to a new amendment made in 2016, whoever becomes vice president from this election will automatically become the president after three years.
Incumbent senior vice president Bhawani Rana will be FNCCI’s 19th president after the body’s annual general meeting is held between April 10 and April 11 for a term of three years.
Golchha and Pradhan filed their candidacies for the post of senior vice president of FNCCI before the deadline for filing nominations ended on Monday evening.

Whoever is elected senior vice president by the upcoming AGM will become the 20th president of umbrella body of the private sector. The senior vice president will be automatically elevated to post of president, according to a recent amendment to the FNCCI statute.
The panel led by Golchha, who is the incumbent vice president in the associate category, filed his candidacy on Sunday while the Pradhan panel registered his candidacy on Monday.
Dinesh Shrestha is contending for the post of vice president of Industry and Commerce and is in the Golchha panel.
Pramod Shrestha is vying for vice president of Industry and Commerce from the Pradhan panel.
Shankar Prasad Pandey, Anup Bahadur Malla and Umesh Lal Shrestha are going to contest for the post of vice president in the commodity category.
According to FNCCI, Chandra Prasad Dhakal will become vice president in the associate member category as no one else filed their candidacy for the post.
29 people filed their candidacy for 18 posts in the district and municipality categories of members. Each of the seven provinces will have a member. 15 people have filed their candidacy for the seven provinces. For the 14 posts of members in commodity category, 27 have filed their nominations.
