Security agreement between Iraq and Iran

March 20:  A security cooperation agreement has been signed between Iraq and Iran. According to information provided by Iran's official news agency IRNA, the agreement was signed between the two countries regarding security cooperation.

March 20:  A security cooperation agreement has been signed between Iraq and Iran. According to information provided by Iran's official news agency IRNA, the agreement was signed between the two countries regarding security cooperation.



The agreement was reached between the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, and Iraq's National Security Adviser, Qasim al-Araji.

The news committee also informed that the Secretary of Iran's High Security Council, Shamkhani, was on a visit to Iraq and that the agreement was reached in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, on Sunday.


The Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani was also present at the ceremony related to the agreement. According to the agreement, it is mentioned that both these countries will cooperate and coordinate with each other on security matters.


It is mentioned in the agreement that terrorist groups and organizations attack and commit murder and violence in both of these countries and cooperate and coordinate with each other to protect the country from such groups and provide security.


It is said that Iraq and Iran will provide mutual security cooperation and coordination to prevent criminal activities in the border area and to protect civilians from violent attacks by terrorist groups.
