Sales of goats for Dashain begins

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The government has started selling he-goats and mountain goats targeting major festivals including Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath in Kathmandu on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The government has started selling he-goats and mountain goats targeting major festivals including Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath in Kathmandu on Monday. 



Customers can purchase those meat products from the premises of Food Management and Trade Company Limited at Thapathali.

According to Director General at the Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection, goat sells at Rs 550 a kg while one can buy mountain goat at Rs 730 per kg. 


Department also claimed that livestock comes up with high-quality meat and cheaper price unlike those available in the market. 


FMTC has been bidding 500 mountain goats brought from Mustang and 380 he-goats from Birgunj. 


The government is planning to sell a total of 2000 mountain goats and 1000 he-goats during this festive season.
