KATHMANDU, July 28: Hari Prasad Dhakal, a member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has accused the newly formed ruling coalition of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML of deliberately transferring Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Manoj KC to obstruct the ongoing corruption investigations.

Speaking at the House of Representatives on Sunday, Dhakal asserted that the previous administration was dedicated to promoting good governance and had actively pursued corruption cases. He contended that the new coalition was established to impede these inquiries, particularly those targeting prominent political figures.

Dhakal also criticized the government for appointing individuals under investigation to ministerial positions and allowing individuals accused of serious crimes, including kidnapping, murder, arms-related offenses, and extortion, to govern at the provincial level.

The Home Ministry has been embroiled in controversy following the unexpected transfer of DIG KC, who had recently overseen the arrest of Bechan Jha related to the Bhutanese refugee scam. Additionally, DIG KC had arrested Pratik Thapa, the son of former Home Minister and UML Vice Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal'.

The alliance between the Nepali Congress and the UML is believed by many to have been formed after these arrests.
