BIRATNAGAR, Aug 6: With the highest single-day spike of 66 fresh cases on Thursday, the COVID-19 tally in Province 1 has reached 12,055.
The province has been witnessing COVID-19 transmission at an alarming rate in recent days.
Of the fresh cases of COVID-19 detected on Thursday, 51 are males and 15 are females.

Twenty-four new cases were detected in Morang, 19 in Sunsari, 14 in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, five in Itahari, eight in Mechi Municipality and 17 in Illam Municipality.
So far, 12,055 individuals have contracted novel coronavirus in Province 1 of which 905 have recovered and returned home.
As of Thursday, four people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Province 1.
