Prohibitory orders in Valley likely to be extended by a week, CDOs to take final call later today

KATHMANDU, June 13: The prohibitory orders enforced in the Kathmandu Valley to curb the spread of COVID-19 are likely to be extended by a week, according to Prem Prasad Bhattarai, the chief district officer (CDO) of Bhaktapur.

KATHMANDU, June 13: The prohibitory orders enforced in the Kathmandu Valley to curb the spread of COVID-19 are likely to be extended by a week, according to Prem Prasad Bhattarai, the chief district officer (CDO) of Bhaktapur.



Talking to Republica, CDO Bhattarai said that the CDOs of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur - the three districts in the Valley - are scheduled to hold a meeting to take a decision on either lifting or extending the prohibitory orders at 3:30 PM today.

“Most likely, the prohibitory orders will be extended by a week. However, the final decision will be taken by the meeting which will begin at 3:30PM,” CDO Bhattarai told Republica.


The ongoing prohibitory order which was extended 10 days on June 2 is due to end on midnight of June 14.


The restriction orders in the Valley were first enforced on April 29 to break the chain of contagious COVID-19 infection which have been extended time and again.


In their previous meeting, the CDOs in the Valley had decided to let groceries and book shops to remain open till 9 AM and allow construction activities as well. Likewise, only the offices providing emergency services were allowed to remain open. Also, banks were allowed to open only three of their branch offices as previously decided.
