KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The Young Entrepreneurship Forum of the Confederation of Nepalis Industries (CNIYEF), a youth initiative of CNI has demanded that the government allow e-commerce business and home delivery services without obstruction.

Issuing a press statement on Monday, CNIYEF expressed its concern over the government’s recent action to bar the online home delivery services. On Thursday, Nepal Police had detained e-commerce entrepreneurs and more than 90 delivery persons, claiming the business violated the prohibitory orders issued by the local administration.

According to  CNIYEF, the online businesses have been delivering the essential supplies to the needy households. In addition, the businesses have been fully implementing the safety standards prescribed by the government, including the use of the personal protective equipment and sanitizing the delivery vans, reads the press statement.

The government had imposed a ban on  home delivery businesses. Amid growing criticism against the government action, the Kathmandu District Administration Office on Monday has formed a committee to prepare a protocol for home delivery services.
