President Bhandari remits jail term of 290 inmates

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday remitted the remaining jail terms of 290 prisoners at the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday remitted the remaining jail terms of 290 prisoners at the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.



The Head of State pardoned the remaining terms of the prisoners including Hemraj Tumbahaphe as per Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal, the Criminal Offences (Sentencing and Execution) Act, 2017 and the Criminal Offences (Prison Term remit) Regulations 2019, according to Hari Prasad Dahal, spokesperson for the President’s Office.

In a separate press statement, Dahal shared that the remaining jail term of Ram Dayal Mandal Khatwe has also been remitted in accordance with Article 276 of Nepal’s Constitution and Muluki Criminal Code 2018 at the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.



The remission of their jail term will be effective from Saturday.
