Premium collection of insurers increased nominally in the first half of the current FY

KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Insurance companies collected premiums worth Rs 91.13 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year, which was 1.25 percent more than the amount collected in the same period in the last fiscal year.

KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Insurance companies collected premiums worth Rs 91.13 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year, which was 1.25 percent more than the amount collected in the same period in the last fiscal year.

Of the amount collected in premium, life insurance companies earned Rs 71.05 billion, which was 0.20 percent more in the review period. According to Nepal Insurance Authority, non-life insurers collected Rs 20.08 billion in premium, a 5.15 percent increase compared to the period of mid-July and mid-January last year.


Among the non-life insurers, Shikhar Insurance topped the list through collection of premiums of Rs 2.65 billion, an increase of 8.79 percent. Likewise, Nepal Life Insurance collected a premium of Rs 18.63 billion, an addition of 1.31 percent, and topped the non-life insurers in the segment.
