MAHOTTARI, Jan 20: The poor locals of Khairabani rural municipality are waiting for warm clothes and other urgent essential goods as they are adversely affected by the cold wave.
Most of the locals in the settlement are Dalits who are poor and underprivileged lacking almost all basic amenities including drinking water, sufficient food, shelter and schools.
Year after year Mushahars continue shivering in winter
Though the leaders had reached the settlement showing various dreams to be fulfilled by them if they were elected by Dalits' votes, no leader has returned there after elections.
A 50-year old Sakudevi Mahara said they were not getting pure drinking water facility and are spending their lives under cold and ruined huts due to lack of proper houses for long.
Similarly, another local Indal Mallik Dom said that they even don’t have a land ownership certificate. RSS
