KATHMANDU, March 7: A meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) politburo is currently underway.
The meeting is being held to discuss contemporary politics and preparations for local elections, said a leader of the Unified Socialist.

The Unified Socialist is sharply divided over whether the decision of the party to help ratify the MCC grant agreement through parliament was the right decision. A section of leaders including senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal stands opposed to the MCC grant agreement.
This issue has also been put on the agenda of today's politburo meeting. Senior leader Khanal, who is against the MCC ratification from parliament, is also present in the meeting.
