PM Oli recommends mid-term elections for April 30 and May 10*

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Prime Minister K P Oli has recommended President Bidya Devi Bhandari to announce a mid-term election of the House of Representatives for April 30 and May 10, 2021.



Prime Minister Oli made the recommendation for the date of holding fresh parliamentary elections along with the recommendations to dissolve the existing parliament. President Bhandari announced April 30 for the first phase and May 10 for the second phase of the parliamentary election at the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli.

As per the existing constitutional provision, a fresh parliamentary election must be held within six months after the parliament is dissolved. The date is recommended to honor the constitutional provision, the sources claimed.


Prime Minister Oli has returned to his official residence in Baluwatar after recommending the dissolution of the parliament and holding a fresh election of the federal parliament.
