KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of the National Security Council amid sporadic protests against the MCC agreement in different parts of the country. The meeting is expected to take stock of the country’s overall security situation and take appropriate measures to thwart any untoward incidents.
The meeting is currently underway at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar. The meeting is said to be discussing issues regarding what to do about the activities that may take place against MCC along with the arrival of MCC Vice President Fatima Sumar in Kathmandu.

A section of people has also stepped up protests against the government claiming that it has done nothing to ensure justice to the family of Jaya Singh Dhami, who has been missing after falling into the Mahakali River after the Indian SSB personnel allegedly cut off the cable of the improvised cable crossing he was using to cross the swollen river.
Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi, Nepal Army chief Prabhu Ram Sharma and Defense Secretary Begendra Raj Sharma Poudyal are among those participating in the meeting.
