PM advises Speaker Mahara to step down from his post

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has advised Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara to step down from his post after the latter has been accused of sexually harassing a female employee.

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has advised Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara to step down from his post after the latter has been accused of sexually harassing a female employee.



According to the sources, PM Oli suggested Mahara not to remain in the post amid such allegations.

PM Oli, Co-chair of NCP Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and General Secretary Bishnu Poudel discussed over the issue earlier this morning.


Earlier today, Mahara also met Oli and Dahal separately.


The top brass of the NCP have also indicated that Mahara should step down from the post to pave way for launching a fair investigation into the allegation.


NCP is holding its secretariat meeting later today regarding the issue.
