KATHMANDU, March 28: Holi, the festival of colors, is being observed with huge fanfare in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country on Sunday.



People throw colors and water at each other as part of the celebrations.

Holi, which is often considered the second biggest religious festival, indicates the beginning of the spring season.


The Holi festival will be observed on Monday in the Tarai, the southern plains of the country.


The government has directed the general public to avoid huge gatherings and celebrations in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.
