NMPA decides to close cinema halls across the country on September 12

Nepal Motion Picture Association (NMPA) has decided to close cinema halls across the country on September 12 as a symbolic protest against the baseless allegation made against its members.

Issuing a press statement on Thursday, the NMPA said the protest is also aimed against government’s indifferences to address their demands, unnecessary hassles given by censor board to approve movie, government’s measures to curve import of forign movie. 


The move of NMPA to close all cinema halls on September 12 as a symbolic protest comes in the wake of  (Nepal Film Producers Association) NFPA’s decision to open cinema halls only on Friday.


Moreover, according to the NMPA, as some organizations caused trouble during the scrutiny process of the movies, they have decided not to open advance booking of any movies. 


A Central Working Committee meeting of the NMPA on Thursday also announced a phase wise protest. The NMPA will release further details of their protest activities through a press statement later today.
