Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar passes away

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Veteran Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, also known as ‘Nightingale of India’ passes away at the age of 92.

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Veteran Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, also known as ‘Nightingale of India’ passes away at the age of 92.

She was admitted to a city hospital in early January this year, after she tested positive for Covid-19 and was also diagnosed with pneumonia.


Mangeshkar had lent her voice to songs in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, and many other languages including Nepali. She has been honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan as well as several National and Filmfare Awards for her contribution in cinema and the field of arts.
