KATHMANDU, June 25: Joint-secretary Maheshwar Neupane on Sunday assumed the responsibilities of acting secretary at the Election Commission following the government decision to transfer Secretary Gopinath Mainali from the EC.
Secretary Mainali was transferred over a row on procurement of luxury cars for the five election commissioners and other logistics issues.
After the transfer, Secretary Mainali has accused the election commissioners of abusing their authority by instructing CIB to study call details of senior officials working in the election body.
